Brisbane Portrait Prize Finalist 2021
We were thrilled to be selected as a finalist for the Brisbane Portrait Prize 2021. A prestigious award that encourages excellence, creates opportunity for artists and increases engagement in the arts, by providing space for artists to explore contemporary portraiture, encompassing notions of story telling in the digital age. It also creates opportunity for audiences to broaden their thinking about their city, the community, and the world, by engaging with the artistic process, and the narratives of the sitters.
Our sitter this year, Lincoln Savage, is a Brisbane-based creative, best known as a Creative Director and Producer in a range of public events. His current projects include the Brisbane Street Art Festival (BSAF) and Yonder Festival.
Through BSAF, Savage has injected personality and culture throughout the city by engaging and supporting local and international artists to paint murals on the streets of Brisbane.
“His work enriches the everyday human experience of the city, emphasising the value of art. The map of Brisbane, as depicted in the artwork’s background, highlights locations where Savage has placed murals as a result of the festival. The artist was engaged by Lincoln for BSAF 2021.”
